What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified toxin that is produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. This toxin causes a disease called botulism. During the past 20 years it has been shown that, when BOTOX® Cosmetic is given in very small, medical doses by injecting it into specific muscle groups, it causes a temporary paralysis of these muscles. In other words, the muscles stop moving and the resulting frown lines disappear.

How can it help me?

Frown lines in the forehead, between the eyes, crow's feet and many other expression lines in the face have always been difficult to treat surgically. With BOTOX® Cosmetic, we have the ability to directly inject the muscles that cause these lines and correct or improve the problem.

Is it permanent?

BOTOX® Cosmetic begins to work within a few days of treatment and the effects last anywhere between three to five months. A simple repeat treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the results if wished.
