Dysport can be described as one of Botox’s newest competitors. It is an injection that contains abobotulinumtoxinA (Botulinum toxin type A), which is procured from a strain of bacteria called Clostridium botulinum that causes botulism. The toxin produced by these microorganisms is known to block nerve activity in muscles, resulting in a temporary reduction in activity.

Dysport has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is commonly used as an injectable wrinkle relaxer by a wide variety of people around the world.

What Is Dysport Used For?

Dysport is used to temporarily decrease the appearance of wrinkles on the face, helping patients look more youthful and fresh. This injection is becoming increasingly popular among people who are looking to remove their signs of aging. It smoothes out lines and wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows, along with crow’s feet near the eyes.

How Does This Injection Work?

Dysport is an intramuscular injection that is to be administered by a professional healthcare provider only. These injections are given three months apart. Dysport can be injected into several areas at a time. The effects of this injection are temporary. Wrinkles can reappear on skin, which is why the treatment is repeated every three months.

This injection has become very popular thanks to its effectiveness against wrinkles, lines, and crow’s feet. With only a few small injections, Dysport eliminates lines, wrinkles, and other telltale signs of aging formed from frowning, laughing, and other facial movements. When Dysport is administered, the activity of the nerves that control facial muscles is blocked, allowing the muscles to relax, which gives the face a much smoother appearance.

Although Dysport has been identified as an excellent choice to decrease the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the face, the results of the injection depend on personal goals and suitability. Not all patients are suitable to undergo Dysport injections, as they may react differently to the toxin in the serum.

On patients who take well to this injection, results are apparent in three to four days. There is an evident reduction in wrinkles and frown lines between their eyebrows and forehead. Some patients have shown positive results in just two days. In some cases, it can take up to a week for the results to become apparent.

The effects of Dysport can last anywhere between three and four months; at this point, patients may be interested in returning for repeat treatments.
