Non-Surgical Facelift Toronto

A non-surgical facelift is a combination of procedures that allow us to restore volume and address wrinkling of the skin. We use a variety of injectable dermal fillers as well as neuromodulator agents such as Botox to achieve these results.

Who is a candidate?

People that begin to notice a loss of facial fullness, the appearance of expression lines and areas of hollowness as well as flattening of facial features. These are early signs of facial aging and can be found while the skin still remains firm and flexible. We normally begin to see these changes in our thirties.

How is it done?

Your doctor will perform a thorough examination and recommend the options available to you. Normally, hyaluronic acid fillers such as Teosyal, Juvederm and Restylane are used in different areas of the face begin improving the areas of hollowness and loss of volume. Other products such as Radiesse may be good options and fat transfer can also be considered. Neuromodulators such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin are also used to improve some the expression lines around the eyes and forehead and, in some cases, to create some mild lifting of some of the facial structures. The procedure can be done in one or several sessions and this will vary on the selected treatment and the patient’s desires.

When will I look better?

The effects of a non-surgical lifting are almost immediate, but will tend to improve over the course of first week or two because hyaluronic acid fillers, in particular, will increase the hydration of the tissues that they are injected into. In some cases there will be an initial over plumping of the tissues secondary to the inflammation caused by the injection and this will disappear after a day or two. Bruising is rare, but does occur from time to time and this may last a few days.

How long do the results last?

The longevity of the results will depend on the fillers used. We normally expect results to last somewhere between six to eighteen months with most of the hyaluronic acid fillers. The deeper, volume replacing fillers lasting the longer and the more superficially injected fillers being absorbed a bit quicker. When fat transfer is used, some of the results may be permanent (25 to 40%). The effects of the neuromodulators may last 3 and up to 6 months in most people.

We normally recommend doing touch ups every 9 month or so. It has been found that when we reinject these fillers into the treated tissue before the product has disappeared, we are able to achieve greater longevity of the results with the use of less product. Financially and aesthetically this is a win win situation.
